I have been running it for one whole year but it never did develop as I hoped it would. I know there are a lot of great Canadian homeschoolers out there and I was really hoping this carnival would bring them together. My goal was to develop this into a team effort but it's not happening at this time. If things change I may restart again in the future but for now, so long and happy homeschooling.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7105010514981024606.post-15254540724371850712009-04-20T22:06:00.002-02:302009-04-20T22:38:49.570-02:30Edition 14 2009Welcome to the Fourteenth 2009 edition of the Canadian Home Educators Blog Carnival! Only one invitation to visit this week, but one is better than none.

From somewhere in Canada LimeGreen invites us to learn all about The Game of Geocaching!. Sure sounds like fun!

That's the end of this week's trip across Canada visiting with home educating families along the way. Thanks to those of you that invited us to visit and thanks to those of you that came along for the trip.

If all goes well the next edition will be posted next Monday, April 27th, but the deadline for submissions is Friday, April 24th. Sorry about that.

BTW, I am considering changing this to a team blog, if there is any interest in that happening. The carnival was much fuller when I was actively seeking submissions but I just don't have the time to do that right now. It might work better, however, if I could get a team to help me seek submissions. If you are at all interested in this idea, drop me a line or leave a comment and I'll tell you more about how I see it working.

In the meantime, hopefully we'll get some submissions for a regular edition next week. If all goes well the next regular edition will be posted Monday April 20th, with the deadline for submissions being Friday, April 17th. Now I have to remember to go change the information in the sidebar right away to reflect that. :)Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7105010514981024606.post-2297436662113702182009-04-06T08:53:00.001-02:302009-04-06T08:53:00.166-02:30Edition 13 2009Welcome to the Thirteenth 2009 edition of the Canadian Home Educators Blog Carnival!

Heather, in Ontario, tells us about her children's projects for their third annual History Fair.

A newcomer to carnival, Kim, in Ontario, tells us about her family's recent visit to a Maple Syrup Festival.

Molytail, in Alberta, tells us that her son has been repeating Tuba Tuba Tuba Tuba Tuba continually since the fun activites they did during their recent Konos study of instruments. A special thank you to Kristine for designing and installing it. Isn't it great?

Now, on to the trip. This time we actually have visits from one side of the country on over to the other. Let's get started!

Stop in at my place in Newfoundland and learn about the Family Literacy Day World Record Attempt.

A newcomer to the Carnival, Heather, in New Brunswick says Kids Love to "Work" When it's Montessori "Toys"

Tonia, in Quebec, tells us how she is doing K4 at Home.

Rosina, in British Columbia, talks about A Homeschool Co-op: How to Start One

A new comer to the carnival, Jasmine, also in British Columbia, tells us about Our Home Learning Community House

And that's the end of this trip across the country visiting with home educating families along the way. Thank you to those of you that invited us to visit and thanks to those of you that came along for the trip.

While we did have visits from one side of the country on over to the other this time, we're still missing stops in a number of provinces along the way. Please help spread the word about the carnival. Post about it on your blog, on message boards and email lists. Tell your friends about it when you get together for tea, or support group meetings or through phone calls. Let's each do our part to make this a full carnival with representation from all across our country, and beyond!

If all goes well the next edition of the carnival will be posted Monday, January 26th, but the deadline for submissions is Friday, January 24th. The reason for the early deadline is because I like to have Saturdays to put the finishing touches on the carnival and be able to take Sundays to relax before posting the carnival on Mondays. Hope to hear from all of you, and all your friends, before the due date! :)Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7105010514981024606.post-38726300495769709182009-01-12T10:30:00.004-03:302009-01-12T17:07:03.643-03:30Edition 02 2009Welcome to the second 2009 edition of the Canadian Home Educators Blog Carnival! Only three invitations to visit this time around. Let's get started!

Tonia, in Quebec, shares ideas on Things to do with a Hundreds Chart.

Audrey, in Manitoba, talks about her plans to work on regaining lost art.

Molytail, now living in Alberta, invites us to check out her new online home as she answers the question "Why Tails Gone West?".

That's the end of the visits this week. Thanks, Tonia, Audrey, and Molytail for inviting us to visit. Thanks to those of you that came along for the trip.

I wish this had been a fuller trip but that is only possible if people submit invitations to visit. I love it when we have full trips with stops in all the provinces, but I have had to accept the fact that I just don't have the time to search out the posts to make it possible, so it's important to get the word out that people need to submit. I'd love to have people submitting invitations every week. With Molytail's move, it means we no longer have any representation from PEI in the carnival. I sure hope somebody fills in that space soon. I also hope that we start getting more invitations to visit.

To try to encourage more participation, I have decided to offer up a small participation prize each month. Every time someone submits an invitation to visit their name will be put in to be drawn for a prize. At the end of the month I will send a small envelope of a prize to the person drawn.

The next edition will be posted Monday, January 19th, but the deadline for submissions is Saturday, January 17th. Please help spread the word and hopefully I will be overrun with submissions. :)
Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7105010514981024606.post-1534222126044747842009-01-07T23:58:00.003-03:302009-01-08T01:07:53.362-03:30Edition 01 2009Welcome to the first edition of the Canadian Home Educators Blog Carnival for 2009! It's been a long time since our last edition. I was having some computer problems that made preparing the carnival extremely frustrating. Thanks to my mom and sister, however, I am now the owner of a new laptop and no longer have to endure the troubles my old computer inflicted on me. :) This week's edition is a few days late but things should be on track from here on in.

Let's get started on our trip across Canada visiting home educating families along the way.

Dawn, in Nova Scotia, says "Goodbye Spongebob" as she tells us about their preparations for a move.

A new comer to the carnival, Cheryl, in New Brunswick, tells us about her son's interest in Nihongo (Japanese Language) and how she is making it a part of his learning.

Lorraine, in New Brunswick, tells us how she gave her children a Centrifugal Force Lesson Plan, Unschool Version.

Phyllis, in Ontario, talks about some tools she's found to help with the Teaching of Writing.

Jennifer, in Alberta, shares how she uses children's exercise videos to do Phys. Ed at 30 Below.

Lori, in Alberta, tells us about their projects for Literary World 2008.

Becky, in Alberta, tells us about some Real life science they experienced in November.

Rosina, in British Columbia, tells us about A Great Spelling Website & It's FREE!

Miranda, in British Columbia, tells us about her 5 year old doing More hands-on equations.

That's the end of our visits in Canada but we also have a visit with a Canadian homeschooling in another part of the world.

Colleen, a Canadian living in Guam, says, "God Smiles on us in Guam" as she explains how the sky in Guam looks different.

And that's the end of this trip. Thank you to each of you that invited us to visit and thanks to those of you that came along for the trip.

One change in the carnival from now on is that I will not be going looking for submissions - it just takes too much time. The carnival will consist only of submissions that are sent in, so it is essential that you help me spread the word and help keep the carnival going. Please post about the carnival on your blog, submit yourself, and encourage others to do so also.

If all goes well the next edition will be posted Monday, January 12, but the deadline for submissions will be Saturday, January 10. That means you have to get busy and submit ASAP. :) Hope to hear from all of you.

Happy homeschooling!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7105010514981024606.post-71171334303456457092009-01-02T16:32:00.002-03:302009-01-02T16:34:49.376-03:30Happy 2009!It's been quite a while since I posted anything here. I have been having computer troubles and then the busyness of the season took over so the carnival got pushed to the sidelines. I am hoping, however, to post an edition of the carnival next week, so please help spread the word and send in your submissions ASAP!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7105010514981024606.post-59604948712725280182008-10-28T17:43:00.002-02:302008-10-28T18:26:37.351-02:3027th EditionWelcome to the 27th edition of the Canadian Home Educators Blog Carnival! Sorry to be so late in posting. It's been a busy day.

We're going to start this trip in British Columbia where we'll visit with Rosina as she shares with us some wonderful Leaf Embroidery her children did recently. Before we leave Rosina's she asks us to check out the HSN blog she looks after and read about the Grand Finale ~ Finish Celebrating BC's 150th Year With A Bang.

Next we're off to Alberta to visit with Pam as she tells us about a Magazine for and by homeschool kids :o) (Canadian). Sounds very interesting!

Before leaving Alberta we'll drop in on Lori as she tells us its time to Review, Regroup, Restart.

After skipping over a couple of provinces, our next stop is in Ontario to visit with Mama Squirrel as she says "There are libraries and then there are libraries."

Next we'll drop in on Tonia in Quebec as she shares a Curriculum Review: Get Ready, Get Set, Go for the Code.

After skipping over a few provinces again we come to our last stop for this trip, at my house in Newfoundland and Labrador as I tell you about a NaNoWriMo Page for Canadian Home Educators.

And that's the end of this trip across Canada visiting with home educators along the way. Thanks to those that invited us to visit.

Life has been pretty crazy around my house lately and with NaNoWriMo about to start it promises to just get crazier. Because of my involvement in the NaNoWriMo I will be taking a break from posting the Carnival during the month of November. Therefore, unless I get inundated with submissions and outcries against the break, the next Canadian Home Educators Blog Carnival will be posted on Tuesday, December 2. That gives you all lots of time to write and submit. :)Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7105010514981024606.post-62045432878318669052008-10-22T18:51:00.003-02:302008-10-22T18:55:18.676-02:30No carnival this week, but watch for one next weekSorry for being so late in letting you know, but due to a number of different circumstances there will be no carnival this week. I didn't receive any submission for this week, and I also had a lot of stressful stuff happening in my home this week that left me with no time or mind for searching out submissions. My apologies for having to cancel this week's trip. Hopefully next week will be different. If all goes well the next edition will be posted Tuesday, October 28. Please send in your submissions ASAP. Thank you.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7105010514981024606.post-20390082269015385682008-10-14T15:33:00.002-02:302008-10-14T15:50:53.633-02:3026th Edition!Welcome to the 26th edition of the Canadian Home Educators Blog Carnival. It has been another crazy week at my house this week with no time to drum up extra visits to fill out the carnival. Fortunately we did have a few submissions this week so there will be a trip, but it will be a very short one. Let's get started!

We'll start this trip at my house in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador where I'll tell you about NaNoWriMo and point you to a post where you can learn more about their Young Writers Program. It really sounds neat!

Next we're off to Quebec to visit with Tonia as she shares Games for Long Vowel, Silent-E Words that she has created to help her little one with her reading. Great ideas!

After that we're off to Saskatchewan where we'll drop in on Julia as she tells us about their Math Day #3 and the fun they had learning about the Chinese abacus. Their math days sure sound like fun to me!

Next we're off to Alberta to visit with Pam as she says it's time to update and proceeds to tell us about all the things her family has been doing the last while. Sure sounds like they've been busy!

And that's the end of this trip across our country visiting with homeschooling families along the way. Thank you to those of you that sent in submissions this week. Without you there would not have been a carnival this week.

This week promises to be just as crazy, if not crazier, around here so I'm doubtful I'll have time to search for places to visit for next week's carnival. Please help ensure that there is a carnival next week by sending in submissions ASAP so that you don't forget.

I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving and that you all got out and exercised your right to vote today. Hopefully I'll hear from all of you with submissions for next week.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7105010514981024606.post-13225786274662407992008-10-07T10:00:00.003-02:302008-10-07T10:41:55.478-02:3025th EditionWelcome to the 25th edition of the Canadian Home Educators Blog Carnival.

We'll start this trip in my home on the island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador as I give A salute to my firefighters! and also tell you to check out the HSN Newfoundland and Labrador blog for some resources to use for Fire Safety Week October 5-11, 2008 - Prevent Home Fires.

Unfortunately we didn't get any invitations to visit for Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, or New Brunswick this time around so we'll skip over those provinces and move on to the next.

In Quebec our first stop is for a first time visit with Shannon as she tells us about an article she read titled How I taught My Child to Read for Less Than $1 but what I really, really like is when she tells us about her family's blogs and how she's using blogging to encourage her children to write. She also provides links to her children's blogs.

Next we have another first time visit in Quebec with Idzie, a 17 year old unschooler, as she shares with us about how much she loves learning and is ready to take on life in a post titled Melancholy and beautiful books.

Before we leave Quebec, we'll pop in for a visit with Tonia as she tells us about A few of my Favorite Things which includes links to some great sites.

After crossing the border into Ontario, our first visit is with Phyllis as she shares her Week 5 School Report.

Before leaving Ontario we'll pop in on Heather as she tells us that the Group of Four spent some time doing fun learning with Newton and the Skateboard Park. I wish I had done something like this with one of my boys.

Unfortunately we didn't get any invitations to visit in Manitoba or Saskatchewan this time around so we'll pass on by those provinces.

Arriving in Alberta, we'll pop in to visit with Pam as she shares her report for Day 15.

After that, we'll head into British Columbia where our first visit is with Cheryl as she shares some great resources and tells us that Election Time = Opportunity to Teach Government.

Next, also in British Columbia, we'll drop in on Miranda as she tells us about wonderful Symphony treat they were privileged to enjoy recently.

Our last visit in British Columbia is with Rosina as she shows us the Unplugged Project ~ Fruit (Thanksgiving Turkeys) they made a little while back. She also invites us to check out her nature blog where she tells us about a FREE - Basic Bird Nature Study that is available for download from Currclick this week. I don't normally feature more than one post from a blog in an edition but I'm making an exception this time because I want to make sure you notice the - Think ~ Bridge Challenge they did this weekend. Very cool! Her son even made the Think! website because of his bridge, and there's still time for you to give it a try.

And that brings us to the end of this trip across Canada visiting with homeschooling families along the way. Thank you to those of you that invited us to visit. Please take the time to let our hosts know that you stopped by by leaving a comment on their blogs.

If all goes well, the next edition of the Canadian Home Educators Blog Carnival will be posted Tuesday, October 14. Please send your submission before then.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com
